Thermogasdynamics and Combustion Laboratory

The principal research avenues of the Thermogasdynamics and Combustion Laboratory are:
  1. Combustion and ignition of dispersed solid fuels
  2. Ecological and safety problems related to large-scale industrial accidents
  3. Development of theoretical models for combustion of composite propellants
  4. Research on the fluid dynamics of non-isothermal flows, including turbulent flows
  5. Experimental studies on combustion and gasification of solid hydrocarbon materials
  6. Heat and mass transfer in the reacting media, chemical hydrodynamics
  7. Development of novel methods of mathematical physics, search for new exact solutions of nonlinear equations of mathematical physics and mechanics
The main achievements of the Laboratory over the past years are:
  1. Combustion models for combustion of porous carbon particles
  2. Theory for ignition and combustion of aluminum particles
  3. Computer codes for the modeling of combustion in accidental fuel releases into the open atmosphere and in compartment fires
  4. Statistical combustion model for composite propellants and a theory for the agglomeration of aluminum particles on the surface of solid fuel
  5. Methods of generalized and functional separation of variables, description of new classes of exact solutions of nonlinear equations of heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics and wave theory
